A parade of waterfowl at Blackmans Lake in Snohomish County

 Blackman's Lake is a special place where waterfowl play in the misty waters. It's quiet here like a deep forest lake, yet Blackmans is located within the city of Snohomish. The 62 acre lake is 14 feet deep and home to several species of trout. Two streams feed it with Swifty Creek being the only outlet. Swifty Creek empties into the Snohomish River.  On Friday, October 14 at 5:30 p.m. the lake is a peaceful place with many waterfowl including mallards, geese, grebes, and a swan. Along the shore are stands of large western red firs.  The lake gets its name from the three Blackman brothers from Maine who started logging/mill operations there. Hyrcanus Blackman became mayor and served in the state legislature for a term. The house in which Hyracanus died still remains on Avenue B in the city of Snohomish.
